4 Productivity Strategies for Network Marketers to Try Out
When it comes to running a network marketing business, your work is a marathon, not a sprint. However, it’s important to figure out—as early in your journey as possible—how to create an environment that allows you to be productive.
Everyone works a bit differently, so today, we’re exploring four productivity techniques that might inspire your work. Try them out, keep what works, and abandon what doesn’t!
- Use a set schedule every day or week.
If you’re especially motivated by routine or discipline, this trick might work best with your lifestyle. No matter what specific tasks you hope to cover in any given day or week, follow the same schedule so you always know when it’s time to work.
For example, if you’re just starting out and treating network marketing as a side hustle, you might schedule work time from 7-8am every day and from 8am-12pm every Saturday. Or, if you need a heavier schedule, maybe you’ll sit down to get work done every day from 1pm-5pm.
You decide what your exact schedule looks like, but the premise is simple: don’t leave your work hours up to chance or willpower. When your work time rolls around, use it to get something—anything!—done, no matter what.
- Batch tasks so similar items are grouped.
Next is a technique called task batching, and it works incredibly well for some network marketers because our daily tasks can be so varied.
For most network marketers, a typical week might include email and social outreach, presentation and event prep, creating social media graphics, filming video content, reading a new business book, and any number of other miscellaneous tasks that keep the business running. If you try to switch between these tasks all day every day, it can be tough to shift context and maintain your focus. So, try batching them instead!
When you batch tasks, the idea is to give each day (or each chunk of several hours) a “theme” and group like tasks together. So, maybe Mondays are for video and social media content creation. Tuesdays might be for email and social outreach. Wednesdays might be for financial admin tasks. You get the idea—everything still gets done, but you get to focus deeper on one kind of task at a time.
If you constantly feel like you’re jumping around from thing to thing, give task batching a try and see if it helps your output.
- Body double alongside a fellow network marketer.
Our third productivity strategy is body doubling, which is the fancy term for doing your work alongside someone else who’s also working. If you have other network marketers in your community, have them join you for an in-person or virtual work session. Set some goals when you first meet up, then work in silence (but in the same space, or the same Zoom call) until you’re done.
If you’d want a more anonymous version of this trick, try working from a coffee shop, coworking space, or library for the day. The productive energy can be contagious, and it’s a great way to remind yourself of the power of community.
- Invest in the personal habits that make you feel your best.
Finally, don’t forget that keeping yourself healthy and happy is crucial to your business success. If you know you need healthy meals and exercise to do your best work, give yourself time for that every week. If you’re not getting enough sleep or fresh air, build that time into your schedule, too.
If you’re a shell of a human being, it’s going to be difficult to be productive no matter how many strategies you employ. Fill your own cup first, and watch as your business follows suit.
