I began journaling when I was very young as a way of managing a difficult childhood. I have been the person people came to for advice, which is why I applied for the position of columnist at Athabasca University. That was over 20 years ago, and I continue to write the Dear Barb column to the present day. From there I began authoring my stories and publishing them in The Voice Magazine. Since Dear Barb has been so successful I thought it would be a promising idea to publish the best columns in a book. Dear Barb: Answers to Your Everyday Questions and Dear Barb 2: Advice for Daily Life are the results.
My daily journaling has resulted in a compilation of short stories, which provide a window into my younger life. Glimpses in Time: A Collection of Memoirs and More is my second book. These short stories will be expanded when my autobiography is published later this year. My desire to write my story is to provide hope for other young girls struggling with the same issues I did. I love to hear from my readers.
